Reading ship movements
An expected arrival is a plan; an actual arrival or departure records an event.

Sources and verification
An expected arrival is a plan; an actual arrival or departure records an event. “In port” is a report category, not a current GPS position. Our dated reports must never become moving ship markers without verified position data and reuse rights.
Expected arrivals, actual arrivals, departures and vessels in port are different records. A ship’s last report does not show its current position. AIS broadcasts a vessel’s reported identity, position and course. Coverage, reporting delay and licensing vary; these pages do not provide a verified live AIS map.
